Our History

Little Rascals Out Of School opened its doors on 2nd September 2003.

The Manager and Staff were originally employed by the committee of Beechwood After School Club which operated from the Beechwood Family Centre on St Albans Road. When the call came from Social Services to vacate the rooms the Club rented from them, the hunt was on for new premises. We found what we were looking for, but the committee that ran the Beechwood After School Club was severely depleted and barely existed. Made up of mainly parents, they just didn't have the time or the energy to come to the half-termly meetings etc.

The Manager put forward a proposal to take the club over herself and whilst abiding by the rules of the old Club’s constitution Little Rascals Out Of  School was created.

So, with a staff of six who had all worked together for between five and seven years, the new club took shape. The Manager and her Deputy have now worked together for nearly thirteen years. The Assistant Manager came on board two years later and the rest of the staff came a year or so after that. Why do we all stay? Well, not only have our own children enjoyed the after school Club facilities but we all get on extremely well with each other and enjoy each others company. But it is for only three hours a day!

We feel it is important for the children to get away from their school sites and so the Church facility we are in now is an ideal location. We are within a twenty minute walk of all of our schools and we like to think that the children prefer to be ‘off site’ and away from their school surroundings. Some of our parents have expressed that preference too.
